Dad's celebrates 62nd Anniversary.

Sunday May 25, we had dinner at the Hospice House with Dad and the rest of the family. Dad wanted pizza, so Tom called Pizza Hut and Sandy and Lynn made salads, and several people brought apple, cherry, and key lime pies, wine, beer and soft drinks. Drew, Steve and Luke were there, as were Lee, Luba and Hannah, in addition to Katie, Terry W, Jim, Lynn, Doug, Scott, Tom, Sandy, Cindy and Terry. The dining room is about 15 x 30, including the kitchen area, and had a very nice dining table and a bar dividing the kitchen from the seating area. (Someone asked us to close the doors since we were at full Mazanec volume, as usual).

We managed to get Melanie and Tommy (not simultaneously) to participate via Skype on the computer. Dad really enjoyed seeing them ‘on TV’. We also sang “Happy Anniversary”. Dad was in very good spirits, was not in pain, and was more alert than he has been in a while. But he had his head down a lot – lack of energy – and he complained of his eyes hurting. Jim volunteered to go out and get a special ointment for Dad’s eyes, and after an hour driving 25 miles and visiting 2 drug stores he came back with a small box. When he opened it, it was empty!

A memorable day.
