Classic Grandpa

Aunt Sandy sent me this photo today. It's such a classic that I couldn't resist posting it. As you may recall Grandpa rode the Magnum about ten years ago on a family trip to Cedar Point. While we worried about his heart condition on a ride that warns pregnant women and guests with heart conditions not to risk their lives on such thrills, Grandpa bravely boarded Cedar Point's main attraction. After the ride we eagerly asked what he thought of it and he stated, "I didn't find it that thrilling ..." ! I guess compared to WWII an amusement park ride is not that thrilling! However, this picture demonstrates evidence to the contrary ...
Everyone remember to mention that your Grandfather is a shareholder at Cedar Point when you visit this summer! Grandpa wants you to get a discount whenever you can! - Love always, Katie

Dad's celebrates 62nd Anniversary.

Sunday May 25, we had dinner at the Hospice House with Dad and the rest of the family. Dad wanted pizza, so Tom called Pizza Hut and Sandy and Lynn made salads, and several people brought apple, cherry, and key lime pies, wine, beer and soft drinks. Drew, Steve and Luke were there, as were Lee, Luba and Hannah, in addition to Katie, Terry W, Jim, Lynn, Doug, Scott, Tom, Sandy, Cindy and Terry. The dining room is about 15 x 30, including the kitchen area, and had a very nice dining table and a bar dividing the kitchen from the seating area. (Someone asked us to close the doors since we were at full Mazanec volume, as usual).

We managed to get Melanie and Tommy (not simultaneously) to participate via Skype on the computer. Dad really enjoyed seeing them ‘on TV’. We also sang “Happy Anniversary”. Dad was in very good spirits, was not in pain, and was more alert than he has been in a while. But he had his head down a lot – lack of energy – and he complained of his eyes hurting. Jim volunteered to go out and get a special ointment for Dad’s eyes, and after an hour driving 25 miles and visiting 2 drug stores he came back with a small box. When he opened it, it was empty!

A memorable day.

Holiday Concert

Hannah participated in her school's Holiday Concert at Buckeye Valley West this past week. The two songs for the second graders this year were "Frosty the Snowman" and "40 Winks". She also enjoyed a relaxing snow day with Dad. Get your white elephants" lined up for our family get-to-gether in a few weeks.

Thanks!

A warm welcome to all Mazanecs for the Black Friday (day-after-Thanksgiving) holiday bash.

As usual, the girls went shopping while they guys watched football. Later, 'the man' showed us her new credentials and the neighbors showed up to join the festivities.
